*** An early/mid-19th century Maori carved patuki (wooden hand club) ‘of a higher ranking person’, the square section blade with fine linial and notch repeat carving and with a band of 12 detailed manaia and koruru masks, lobed grip and a stylised full head carved to the butt, good colour and patina. Length 41 cm Provenance: gifted to Dr Cooper from Eltham, Taranaki region, c.1850 by local Maori as payment for medical treatment and show of the esteem with which he was held, then by family descent.… ***
*** An old Solomon Islands frigate bird carving depicted as in flight with inlays of triangular shell sections, the wings slotting to the body, traditional forked tail. Star Harbour, San Cristobal, Solomon Islands, raised on later stand. Length 74 cm. Width 69 cm. ***

*** An old Png long club, the carved stone head of star form worked to six various points with a central hole fitted to a long tapered wood shaft with woven fibre binding. Length 945, maximum diameter of stone head 22 cm Provenance: from the collection of Mr D. Elliott ‘between 1969 and 1978 - I was a Senior Technical Officer at the University of Technology in Lae Papua New Guinea. I put my indigenous employees through apprenticeships in various trades.… ***
*** A 19th century Maori hardwood paddle (Hoe) with traditional plain long tapered spatulate blade, the plain cylindrical handle with conforming knob at terminal end, good dark colour and patina, mission script monogram to each side. Length 162 cm being assessed for registration. ***
*** An early/mid 20th century Maori carved papahou (treasure box), all-over lineal and notch carved, the tall long lid with masks at each end, the base supported by stylised masks, paua inserts. Length 35 cm, height 14 cm. ***
