*** A very fine Shibayama gold lacquer mokko-gata Tsuba, Meiji Period (1868-1912). Signed Nemoto-zo. Inlaid in mother of pearl, coral, ivory and shakudo on a nashiji and kir-kane ground and decorated in takamakie and hiramakie, with silver and cloissone rim. Nemoto was a member of the Shibayama family who produced very fine work. 11.3 x 10 cm. Provenance: Orientations Gallery, New York. ***
